How to Apply
Participation in WYF 2017 is open only to selected youth. To apply, please fill out the application form on this link and send us the following by email:
- Your updated CV, and
- A written letter of motivation of no more than 700 words, OR a video recording of no more than 2.5 (two and a half) minutes that describes the motivation behind your applying for WYF 2017 and why you are an appropriate candidate (see ‘Selection Criteria’ below for details).
Please send your CV and Letter of Motivation/Video by email to: wyf2017_Munich@wfeb.org on or before 10th May, 2017 (overseas applicants that require a visa to come to Munich, are advised to send all application materials by or before 20th April, 2017).
Eligibility
Applicants must either be registered students (at the bachelors, masters or PhD level) at any recognized/registered academic institution in any country (student ID and evidence of student status would be required for the confirmation of selection) OR must be young scholars/professionals in the age group 18 – 33 years. All students/young professionals from any background, including especially students from the following disciplines/backgrounds, are invited to apply:
- Law, including intellectual property law and patent law
- Management, including business management, business ethics, IP management
- Information and Communication technologies (including engineers, IT students, researchers & professionals)
- Governance and Political Science
- Media & communications, including journalism
Selection Criteria
Selections will be made by a panel of experts representing each of the partners of the WYF 2017. Selections shall be based on an evaluation of the applicant’s CV, and most importantly, the contents of the motivation letter/video attached to the application form. The motivation letter/video should take into account the theme of the World Youth Forum, its aim & objectives, and its research goals. It can also relate (for example) personal experiences in your educational, research or professional career where you had to deal with issues at the intersection of ethics and innovation, especially in the light of your personal or your country/region’s unique innovative potential and understanding of ethics. All short listed applicants will be invited to attend the WYF 2017 at their own cost. The best applicants will also be awarded a full scholarship to attend the WYF, including flight, accommodation, and training fee (Note: All selected students, including scholarship winners will have to bear their own conference food and materials costs).
Application Deadline
Only completed applications submitted by or before 10th June, 2017 will be evaluated. Overseas applicants who need a visa to visit Munich are advised to submit their applications by 20th May, 2017. All selected overseas candidates will then be notified via email or phone by 10th May, 2017 (so as to permit them to apply for a visa). All selected European applicants will be notified via email or phone by 15th June, 2017.
‘Confirmation of Participation’ and WYF Training Fee
Students/young professionals selected for the WYF are invited to attend the WYF 2017 and the Ethics in Innovation Conference. The following expense heads will be payable by all short listed candidates (including those receiving scholarships) as part of the ‘Confirmation of Participation’ and WYF Training Fee:
Students (with student IDs) with MPI scholarship:
- WYF Registration fee (inclusive of three lunches, six coffee breaks, three dinners + conference materials): 93€
- Ethics in Innovation Conference Registration Fee: 49€
Young Professionals with MPI scholarship:
- WYF Registration fee (inclusive of three lunches, six coffee breaks, three dinners + conference materials): 150€
- Ethics in Innovation Conference Registration Fee: 80€
Students (with student IDs) without MPI scholarship:
- WYF Registration fee (inclusive of three lunches, six coffee breaks, three dinners + conference materials): 93€
- WYF training fee: 150€
- Ethics in Innovation Conference Registration Fee: 49€
Young Professionals without MPI scholarship:
- WYF Registration fee (inclusive of three lunches, six coffee breaks, three dinners + conference materials): 150€
- WYF training fee: 150€
- Ethics in Innovation Conference Registration Fee: 80€
Lunches are included in the price from 23rd to 27th June. Transport and accommodation are not included in the price and are at the charge of participants.
