Fahri Saatcioglu is professor in molecular and cell biology at the Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo, as well as a senior scientist at Oslo University Hospital, Norway. His research focuses on basic molecular and cell biology of cancer cells, in particular prostate and breast cancer, including translational research based on these findings. His laboratory has cloned and characterised a number of novel genes that encode proteins that have a role in cancer development. Prof. Saatcioglu has also been interested in the biological effects and physiological mechanisms of lifestyle interventions, such as yoga and yogic breathing exercises, and conducts research in these areas.
